Moving your store from Shopify to Magento
There comes a point where Shopify stops helping and starts getting in the way. If you have reached it, we move your whole store to Magento, and we do it without taking your shop offline or losing the search rankings you have built up over the years.
- Nothing is lost, we check the numbers
- Redirects keep your search traffic
- We have done Magento since 2009
- You get a fixed price up front
What comes across
- Products, categories and images
- Customers and past orders
- Your URLs and Google rankings
- Your design, rebuilt to be faster
You did not wake up wanting to switch platforms
Nobody leaves Shopify on a good day. It builds up slowly, in small moments that each feel minor at the time.
A customer asks for a bundle or a bulk discount, and you find out your theme cannot set it up. A wholesale buyer wants to order on account with their own pricing, so you end up doing it by hand over email. You ask your developer for one change to the checkout and the answer is that you would need Shopify Plus for that. Then the monthly bill lands and you count how many apps you are paying for just to keep the store working the way you want.
On their own, none of these is a real problem. Together, they are your store telling you it has grown past what Shopify was built to do. That is not a failure. It is what happens when a business does well on a platform meant to keep things simple.
Staying put is not free, it just hides the bill
The fees are the part you can see. Unless you use Shopify Payments, Shopify takes a percentage of every order on top of your card fees. On top of that sit the monthly app subscriptions, often for features that a bigger platform simply includes.
The cost you cannot see on an invoice is the bigger one. It is the wholesale account you turned away because setting it up was too much work. It is the promotion you could not run in time. It is the slow checkout on your busiest day. Those are sales that quietly never happened, and they do not show up anywhere except in growth you expected and did not get.
What actually changes when you are on Magento
Magento is open source. That is a dry way of saying you own your store and can change anything in it, without asking permission or paying for a higher plan.
The bundle deal you could not build becomes a setting. The wholesale buyer logs into their own account, sees their own prices, and orders on the terms you decide. The checkout is yours to shape around how you really sell. Most of those apps fall away because the features are already built in. And the cut Shopify took on every order is gone, so as you grow, more of the money stays with you.
It is the same business you have now, with the ceiling taken off.
The move, step by step
The whole point is that your live store carries on while the new one gets built and checked. You only switch once it is ready.
We look at your store
We go through your products, your apps and the way you sell, and give you a fixed price and a timeline before any work begins. No open-ended bills.
We copy your data over
Products, customers and past orders move to a test version of your new store. Your Shopify shop keeps taking orders the entire time.
We rebuild and protect your SEO
We rebuild your design on Magento to load faster, and point every old web address to its new one so Google keeps sending you traffic.
We test, then switch you over
We check the data, the checkout and payments, then go live at a quiet time. If anything looks wrong, we can switch back the same day.
You do not leave anything behind
- All your products, options and images
- Your customers and their order history
- Coupons, discounts and price rules
- Blog posts and other pages
- Your web addresses, with redirects set up
- Page titles and descriptions for SEO
- The apps you use, matched to Magento
- Your design, rebuilt to load faster
This is the only thing we do
We have worked on Magento since 2009 and built more than 3000 stores. We do not split our time across five platforms. Because of that, a move like this is normal, well-worn work for us, not a first attempt on your shop.
Our developers are certified, and the team runs across the USA and India, so there is someone on your project through the working day rather than once every 24 hours. If you want to see what the work leads to, our portfolio has the real stores, with what we did and how they turned out.
The things people worry about
Will I lose my Google rankings?
This is the worry we hear most, and it is a fair one, because a bad migration can tank your traffic. It comes down to redirects, which are our job. We point every old Shopify address to the matching new one and keep your page titles, so Google sees the same shop at a new address. Done right, your rankings come with you.
Will my store be down while you move it?
No. Your Shopify store keeps selling the whole time we build and test the new one. The switch over happens at a quiet hour and only takes a short while, and we keep your old store ready in case we need to switch back.
Do I really keep all my orders and customers?
Yes, and you do not have to trust us on it. Once everything is moved, we count your products, customers and orders against your old store and show you that the numbers match.
What happens to my Shopify apps?
The apps do not move, but what they do for you can. We go through the apps you actually use, find the same feature inside Magento, and set it up. You keep what you need and stop paying for a row of monthly subscriptions.
How much does it cost and how long does it take?
It depends on the size of your catalog and how custom your store is. That is exactly what the free check is for. We look at your store first, then give you one fixed price and a clear timeline, so there are no surprises later.
Start with a free look at your store
Tell us a bit about your Shopify store and we will check what the move would involve, then come back with a fixed price. The check costs nothing, and there is no pressure after it.
