Magento 1 still runs your store, but it has stopped being safe
From the outside your store looks fine. It takes orders, the catalogue loads, customers check out. So it is easy to keep putting the move off, because nothing is obviously broken.
Underneath, the picture is different. Magento 1 reached end of life in June 2020, which means no more security patches. As of 2026 that is six years of disclosed vulnerabilities with no fix, on the version your store is running. PCI compliance is no longer achievable on it, which is a problem the moment you take a card payment. And the few developers who still know Magento 1 are getting harder and more expensive to find.

Protecting your search rankings through the move
The most common way a migration goes wrong is losing the search traffic you have built up. Magento 2 lays out its URLs differently from Magento 1, so without care your old addresses simply stop existing and Google drops you. That is exactly the part we treat as our job.
We put a 301 redirect on every Magento 1 URL pattern that changes, so each old address points at its new home. We preserve your meta titles, descriptions and social tags, migrate your schema markup, regenerate your sitemap and resubmit it to Search Console, and review robots.txt and canonicals. We also hold the new store to a performance budget, so Core Web Vitals improve rather than slip. Across the migrations we have measured, organic traffic has held.
Your Magento 1 extensions will not just carry over
This is worth being honest about. Almost no Magento 1 extension runs on Magento 2, because the two are built on completely different architectures. So part of the migration is going through every extension you have and deciding what happens to it.
For each one there is one of three answers. If the vendor has a Magento 2 version, we install and configure it. If they do not but something equivalent exists, we recommend a replacement that does the same job. And where the feature is specific to your store, we build a Magento 2 module to match what the Magento 1 extension did. You end up with the same functionality, on code that belongs on the new platform.

Magento migration FAQs
Is Magento 1 still supported in 2026?
No. Magento 1 reached end of life in June 2020. There are no security patches, no path to PCI compliance and no vendor support. If you take card payments online, migrating is no longer really optional.
Can I migrate from Shopify or WooCommerce instead?
Yes. We migrate Shopify, Shopify Plus, WooCommerce, BigCommerce and custom platforms to Magento 2, with the same care over data and SEO.
Magento 2 Open Source or Adobe Commerce?
Both run the same core code. Adobe Commerce adds enterprise B2B, advanced reporting, page builder and Adobe support, and licensing starts around $22k a year. Open Source is free to license. We help you choose based on what you actually need, not what costs more.
Will my admin URL change?
Magento 2 uses /admin or your own custom path rather than the old /index.php/admin. We can keep your path or change it for security, whichever you prefer.
